Founder remembered on September 12Posted on Sep 14, 2007
On September 12, the Lauralton community celebrated Founder’s Day in remembrance of the opening of the school on September 12, 1905, by Mary Augustine Claven, RSM. Lauralton traditionally celebrates the founding anniversary by honoring Mother Claven every year on September 12. Faculty members, students and administrators visited St. Mary's Cemetery and placed flowers on Mother Claven’s grave. In addition, an outdoor prayer service was held at the school grotto that was dedicated in 1945 to Mother Claven. The school community gathered at the grotto to pray…not only for Mother Claven, but for all the deceased Sisters of Mercy who served at Lauralton.
